We're thrilled to announce a special photoshoot opportunity during our Open Studio on Friday, May 16th at 6:45 PM. The buzz around this event has been amazing—and with that excitement has come a lot of great questions. So, here’s what you need to know:

📸 We’re teaming up with Photographer April Ament for this shoot, so you’re already in excellent hands. April’s talent and creative eye will help capture everyone at their best.

To help you feel confident and ready, here are a few quick pointers:

  • 📸Poses. Before the shoot, come up with a list of which poses you would like to do. This is not the time to whip out poses that you have never had a lot of success with before. In fact, ideally, you should pick poses that you can easily perform…and hold…for, like, a while. If you have your splits or a great backbend, use them. If possible, practice your poses in the studio ahead of time. Put a camera on your practice so you can really see and understand your body positioning. If you need help selecting poses, please let us know beforehand so we can have time to help you think up some options.

  • 🖐Ballerina Fingers. Anytime you're extending your arms (like in an arabesque), use “ballerina fingers”—soft, stacked fingers where each one is individually visible. It makes a huge difference in your lines. Not sure how? Just ask!

  • 👗Costume Selection. Avoid wild prints and busy patterns and choose outfits that securely support you, especially if you’re going upside down or doing dynamic movements.

  • 👜What to Bring. Bring water, a yoga mat, wet wipes for your feet, any grip aid you might use, and extra hair pins / makeup.

  • 🎭Props. Props are welcome! Some ideas to spark inspiration:

    • Chiffon scarves

    • Flowers

    • Books

    • Umbrellas

    • Apples

    • Mirrors

    • Glasses

    • Heels

    Let your creativity shine!

  • 📅Get Booked! This opportunity is a very limited capacity. Reserve your spot today!

  • Got Questions? Ask us. We're here to support you.

Mostly, we just want everyone to know not to worry about a thing. This is a fun way to put more beautiful art out into the world…and it will be soooo much fun!  XOXO, Mindy Cochran
